2 to 4 p.m. - Packet pickup and onsite registration area open

5:30 p.m. - 100-yard Youth Dash start

6 p.m. - iPad drawing and fastest team announced (Winners must be present)

The 2015 5K race will again utilize a Jaguar technology timing system, the most modern and accurate method available, featuring Start/Finish chip timing and immediate, real-time results posted on flat screen TVs and posted online at www.j3timing.com.

Advance Registration beginning Monday, July 6, 2015

  • $5 currently enrolled COD students (*See below for limitations)
  • $5 100-yard Youth Dash (both age divisions- 4 to 7 and 5 to 12)
  • $10 kids (ages 5 to 12) and seniors (over 60)
  • $20 COD employees and COD alumni
  • $25 General Registration

Children ages 4 and under registering for the 5K are free. Strollers and wagons are welcome.

Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) members receive a $5 discount.

Onsite Registration (Race day, 2 to 4 p.m.)

Please note that onsite registrants cannot be guaranteed a short-sleeved technical shirt or nylon drawstring backpack.

*Currently Enrolled COD Student-Priced Registrations:

  • Only the first 250 student-priced registrants who check in at the event will receive complete race packets, including official short-sleeved technical shirt, drawstring backpack, and $2 COD Food Truck Rally voucher. 
  • Must pick up packet on race day from the Registration Area between 2 and 4 p.m. If the race packet is not claimed during this time frame, it will be forfeited.
  • Pre-race day packet pickup is not available for COD student-priced registrations
  • Enrollment status is subject to verification. 
  • Student ID is required at the time of registration.
  • Bibs and timing services will be available for ALL 5K participants.
  • Currently enrolled COD students who prefer to not be subjected to the above limitations can register under the category of "General Registration" and pay full price.


Registration Fee

COD will absorb 50% of the non-refundable online registration fee.

  • Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female age group winners.
  • $200 Visa gift cards to the Top Overall Male and Female and "Middle of the Pack" winners
  • $50 Whole Foods gift cards to members of the Fastest Team
  • $25 Visa gift cards to the fastest girls and boys in each age category of the 100-yard Youth Dash



Online Registration

Teams consist of 3 to 10 people and can be created at Active.com.

  • To create a team, the person designated as Team Captain enters the team name during self-registration.
    • Team Captain has the option to require a password for others to join. 
    • It is suggested that the Team Captain communicate with potential members that the team has been created and what the password is, if any.
  • To join an existing team, select the team name during self-registration.
  • Post-registration Team Formation: Teams may be created after self-registration has occurred by logging into Active.com.  Click on "My Events" and modify the existing COD Laps with the Chaps 5K form with the steps listed above.


Fastest Team Award

Each member of the fastest team will receive a $50 Whole Foods gift card!

  • Based on average of top three team members' times
  • Announced at 6 p.m. during short award ceremony
  • Winners must be present


"Luck of the Draw" Team Award

At 6 p.m., a team's name will be pulled from a hat and each lucky member will receive a $50 Whole Foods gift card!

  • All teams will be automatically entered into the drawing
  • Winners must be present
  • Fastest Team does not qualify for "Luck of the Draw"


Additional Teams Information

  • Onsite registration will not be available for new teams or additional team members
  • Teams may have a free professional photo taken on race day, which will be emailed within one week of the event to Team Captains. (All teams that wish for this benefit must check in at the registration table no later than 3:00 p.m. as there may be a line.)


Race Packets

5K participants will receive a short-sleeved technical shirt in a nylon drawstring backpack, including a $2 COD Food Truck Rally voucher.  Only the first 250 COD student-priced registrants who check in at the event will receive complete race packets from the Registration Area.

Grab your packet and then some grub at the COD Food Truck Rally!

2 to 4 p.m. in College Rd. parking lot 1.

Event Parking

Ample free parking will be available off of College Rd. in lots 1 and 2, just west of the COD Food Truck Rally and football stadium, or off of Fawell Blvd. in lots A, B, and D.  There will be plenty of volunteers and clear signage to direct you to the event from all parking areas.  Campus police will not issue tickets during this special event. However, please continue to observe Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking restrictions.

Aid Stations and Comfort Facilities

There will be an aid station and water stop along the course to ensure happy and safe participants. Restrooms are located within the Physical Education Center (PEC), just north of the festivities.

Additional Information

  • Walkers and strollers are welcome and will be asked to position themselves behind the runners at the starting line.
  • Bicycles, in-line skates, other wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs and strollers) are not allowed.
  • Animals are not allowed.
  • This race will proceed rain or shine.
  • College of DuPage is a tobacco-free campus.
  • All registration payments are final. No refunds will be processed unless a doctor's note specifically referencing a need to cancel registration for the College of DuPage Laps with the Chaps 5K is submitted to COD5K@cod.edu by Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 11:59 p.m. CST.

*Mariano's Gift Card Contest Rules:

  • Those who have already registered will be eligible for the drawing (excluding previous winners).
  • Winner will be notified via email on Friday, 9/4/15.
  • Valid only for 5K registrants 18 and older. Categories include general, COD employee, COD alumni, CARA members, and seniors.
  • No award substitutions or cash equivalents.
