Days and Hours Available for Service Learners:
Service Learners can get in contact with COF Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, available volunteer hours are: Tuesday and Wednesday, Noon to 3 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday nights from 6 to 9 p.m.
Description of Organization:
Connection of Friends is a non-profit, community-based program for teenagers and young adults with special needs. We offer an environment designed for socialization, with an emphasis on life skills and creating lasting relationships. Our holistic approach includes, music, art, yoga, gardening and nature as well as volunteer opportunities.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Volunteers motivate our participants to use their developing skills and offer support as they build a network of friends. They interact with our participants while playing games, during group discussion and engaging in all program activities as a peer model.
Organization Requirements:
All volunteers must submit the designated Connection of Friends application, schedule and engage in an interview process at Connection of Friends, and pass a background check. Additionally, volunteers must remain in program for the 3 hour session.
