Description of Organization:

The Salvation Army has been assisting people in need in the Greater Chicagoland region for over 125 years. In communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding five-county area, we extend emergency and supportive assistance from 28 corps community centers, 80 service extension units, the Emergency Disaster Services Center, residential programs, mobile units, and several counseling sites.

Our mission is to meet human needs wherever they may be, without discrimination. As part of this commitment to our community, we provide assistance to families and individuals in crisis â€" to those suffering after a flood or fire, and to those struggling with poverty, food insecurity, joblessness, impending or current homelessness, abuse and despair. This assistance has included nutritious meals, counseling, child care, shelter, and transition to permanent housing.

This work is made possible through the generous support of our wide network of devoted volunteers. We are very grateful to all of our faithful and committed volunteers for their support of our programs and services
