Description of Organization:
Agency operates similar to a park district setting, providing recreational programs, for individuals with disabilities. Special Olympics is our most recognized program but we offer a large variety of programs including art, dance, social programs, special events & trips.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Assist with a variety of recreational programs offered for individuals with disabilities, Special Olympics meets & tournaments, large scale events such as dances or fundraisers (auction, golf outings, casino nights, etc.).
Volunteer Request Form required: Visit www.wdsra.com to view current brochure, click on employment/volunteer to print off a volunteer request form. Willingness to learn, open mindedness and heart/compassion for the individuals you will be working with. Must be able to take direction from the lead staff of the program.
Number of Placements Available:
Depends on time of contact. Best to contact before mid-January for Winter session, March for Spring session, May-early June for Summer session & by mid-September for Fall session. Will take request forms year round.
