Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5 PM, but tutoring may be done anytime, including evenings and weekends.
Description of Organization:
World Relief is an international non-profit agency that works with local churches, individual volunteers, and community groups to offer a comprehensive range of services to refugees and immigrants, the majority of whom are low income.
Description of Service Learner Role:
World Relief staff will connect COD service-learning students with refugees who have arrived in the United States in the past year. Students will spend time weekly with their refugee partner to help him/her learn English and adjust to American culture.
All volunteers are required to complete 12 hours of training, and commit to 2 hours
per week for six months.
Tutoring is typically done at the homes of refugees.
