Roll Up Your Sleeves Service Day
COD CARES and NORTHWESTERN MEDICINE
"Roll Up Your Sleeves" Service Day
Tuesday, September 11, 2018
9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(Lunch and Share at 1 p.m.)
Departing from and returning to: Student Services Center Atrium
Our sleeves were officially rolled! It only took half of a day to make a whole lot of difference. In support with Northwestern Medicine, "Roll Up Your Sleeves" Service Day took place Tuesday, Sept. 11. Team NM, Northwestern Medicine's employee-based volunteer program, joined College of DuPage faculty, staff, and students at surprise locations to put in a good day's work. Examples of service projects included cleaning, painting, and restoration at local nonprofit organizations such as schools, nature centers, and food pantries.
If you would like a member of the COD Cares team to speak with your class or office, please email us at CODCares@cod.edu.
HOW THE DAY WORKED:
9:30 a.m.- Check in with COD Cares/NM staff (Student Services Center Atrium).
10 a.m.- Groups are transported to their assigned secret location. Upon arrival, they will learn about that organization's role in the community and receive assignments for the day.
1 p.m.- Groups return to campus for the "Lunch and Share" where they will inform others of their organization's mission and service experiences.
2 p.m.- Back to work!
THINGS TO KNOW:
- Prepare to get messy! Dress in old clothes and close-toed shoes that can handle spills.
- Prepare to be surprised! Preferences such as indoor/outdoor activities will be taken into consideration.
- Can't leave campus for the day? We have options for you right here on campus.
- COD Cares will supply all work materials, transportation, snacks, and bottles of water.
CAN'T BE AWAY FOR HALF OF A DAY! THAT'S OK!
If you are interested in helping event organizers before and/or after the event with participant check-in, set-up, and tear down, you may register here.
