Humanitarian Services Project (Children)

Huanitarian Services Project logoTake one or more of the 50 available tags in the Student Services Center (SSC) Atrium to make a child's holiday wish come true by purchasing a minimum of $25 worth of the child's requested gifts.

Bring and wrap your gifts at the Giving Garland Holiday Party on Thu., Dec. 8 (details below) or drop off the unwrapped gifts to the Community Relations office (BIC 1645) by Wed., Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. To participate, please follow the instructions on the tags.

Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (Families)

DCFS logoNew this year! By taking a tag with the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services logo, you are promising to provide a Jewel gift card in the amount of $10 or more for a newly united DuPage County family to share their first holiday meal together. To participate, please follow the instructions on the tags.

Metropolitan Family Services (Teens and Seniors)

Metropolitan Family Services logoUnwrapped donations left in the monitored bins in the SSC Atrium through Wed., Dec. 7 will be wrapped by COD Action Heroes at the Giving Garland Holiday Party Thu., Dec. 8 (details below). You may also bring it to the event and wrap it yourself!

Giving Garland Holiday Party

Thu., Dec. 8 in SRC 2000, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All collected gifts will be wrapped by COD Cares Action Heroes at the annual Giving Garland Holiday Party. Enjoy festive treats and beverages while celebrating the 50th Anniversaries of COD and the classic movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

No need to purchase gifts in order to participate in any of the activities. The more, the merrier!

If you'd like to wrap gifts at the event, please email Spots fill up quickly!

Additional activities include:

  • Writing notes of encouragement for troops overseas and seniors who are homebound
  • Decorating candy cane reindeer to accompany wrapped gifts
  • Preparing "reindeer food" for children to sprinkle outside their homes to attract gift-giving, flying folkloric creatures

Donations of wrapping paper are appreciated. Drop off wrapping paper at BIC 1645 before Dec. 8 during regular business hours or bring donations to the Giving Garland Holiday Party.
