COD Cares is a campus-wide program for students and staff to participate together in service activities that benefit communities served by College of DuPage.
Why does COD Care?
Residents of District 502 graciously support College of DuPage. They believe in our mission to be a center for excellence in teaching, learning, and cultural experiences. This show of faith and giving to College of DuPage is a good reminder that, beyond our normal duties, it is valuable to find new and different ways to give back.
Here is a look at what COD has done for our community so far in 2018:
Wednesday, JANUARY 31 at Feed My Starving Children
COD Cares Action Heroes packed enough food to fill 32 boxes adding to the evening's total of 112 boxes packed. This equates to 24,192 meals, which will feed 66 children each day for one year!
Thursday, MARCH 8 at Northern Illinois Food Bank
In just 90 minutes, Action Heroes sorted and packaged 2,890 pounds of potatoes resulting in 578 5.5-pound bags of potatoes, which will provide 2,408 meals for hungry neighbors in Northern Illinois.
Tuesday, April 17 Spring Day of Action: Sustain and Reclaim
More than 300 Action Heroes recognized Earth Week by participating in environmental–friendly activities, such as planting seeds in toilet paper rolls for COD's community garden, sorting keys for recycling, and preparing crayons to be made into "Super Crayons" for children with special needs.
Compensated Service Hours are available with supervisor approval to encourage participation among employees in COD Cares group service activities listed on the calendar above. Please visit the webpage for specific details on how comp time may be used.
