Food and Beverage

Gain needed skills in the food and beverage industry. College of DuPage Continuing Education offers several courses that are designed for certificates and licensure preparation. In the food and beverage area, these include:

Bartending Certification

Acquire the skills necessary for employment as a professional bartender. Learn to mix and serve alcoholic beverages, stock and maintain a bar.

Food Safety Recertification

Review the importance of serving safe food. Develop sanitation operation procedures and examine controls for foodborne illnesses. Meets requirements for food safety recertification; current certification is required to enroll.

Wine Certification

In this comprehensive wine basics course, you'll learn terms, grape-growing, varietals, production, components, label reading, aging/storing and Le Nez du Vin. Completion certificate awarded after 100 percent attendance.

Careers

Certifications help you to develop new skills and sharpen old ones. Industry certification programs equip you with the necessary skills to improve your value to your current employer or expand your opportunities with the skills necessary for a new career path in the busy and demanding food and beverage industry.

An increase of 12 percent job growth is projected for the food and beverage industry overall, and nine percent is projected for bartenders through the year 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Learn terms, grape-growing, varietals, production, components, label reading, aging and storing and Le Nez du Vin. College of DuPage completion certificate awarded after 100 percent attendance. Bring six wine glasses. Students must be 21 to enroll.
