Getting Started as a New Student

One of the best things about College of DuPage is the amount of choice it offers. With so many different programs, it pays to spend some time reviewing what's available, consider your goals, and then talk with one of our knowledgeable advisors.

Familiarize yourself with our offerings
A good place to start is the Academics section on this site. It contains a wealth of information about the different types of academic programs we offer. Check-out our view book.

Meet with a counselor
Meeting with one of our counselors is a great way to help define a clear educational or career-path strategy. Counseling is available on campus in Glen Ellyn and at four off-campus centers. Schedule an appointment by calling (630) 942-2259, or contact a counselor via e-mail. You can also research career opportunities at the Career Services Center. The counselor's there can help you access a variety of resources to help you with your short- and long-term career goals.

Brush up on your skills
If it's been a while since you've attended class, it might be a good idea to refresh your math, writing, reading and/or speech skills. The Academic Support Center offers a nice selection of seminars and courses that will help you get the most out of your ensuing classwork.

Apply!
Our online application process is easy and can be accessed at any time. Learn more about the application process or you can get started here.

“The professors in the Nursing program are there for you with anything you need, and the facilities are top-notch. I heard it was difficult but in a good way, because you want training that truly prepares you. The program helps you explore the many avenues of nursing, and I’m now drawn toward becoming an ER nurse because my ER clinical was amazing. I have a sense of pride that I did this, and if I can do this, then anybody can.”

"I would encourage anyone considering enrollment at COD to make an appointment, meet with a counselor and tour the facilities. I am certain they will find that COD brings just as much to the table as other institutions but in a caring, supporting and flexible learning environment at an affordable cost."
