The deadline for the College of DuPage Scholars Award applications is March 15, 2013. This scholarship will automatically populate in the list of recommended scholarships
if you qualify. the STARS online instructions are the same as above.
Please note: Final awards are based on available funds at the time of award. All applications are due 4/01/2013 unless otherwise stated and all applicants must be residents of Community College District 502 (College of DuPage) unless otherwise stated in the criteria.
Academic Excellence
College of DuPage Faculty Association Scholarship (G215)
1 @ $500
To support students on the journey to reach their academic goals.
- Have a 2.0 GPA or better
- Must include a written statement of 500 words or less that addresses financial need
and how this scholarship would benefit your pursuit of knowledge and its application
to your life
College of DuPage Scholars Award
50 @ Full tuition for 64 credit hours
(Formerly Presidential Scholars Award) Applications due 3/15/2013
- High school senior with at least a 27 ACT or
- A cumulative GPA of 3.75/4 or 4.75/5
- Must carry 15 credit hours
- Must complete 20 hours volunteer/service learning during the first year

College of DuPage Transfer Scholarships - 1 Award to each school ranging from half to full tuition.
To assist high achieving honors students transferring to Elmhurst College, North Central College or Aurora University. Applications are due 3/15/2013.

Downers Grove National Bank Scholarship (G249) 1 @ $500
To assist high school seniors expecting to graduate who have made an exceptional effort through school or community activities.

Foundation's Achiever Scholarship (G906) 10 @ $1,000 each
To recognize students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better and to encourage their continued scholastic achievement.

H.D. McAninch Scholarship for Academic Excellence (G364)
2 @ $1,500 each
To recognize academic excellence and to reward students who have maintained a high GPA.

Michael Ries Alumni Scholarship (G278) 1 @ $500
To offer a scholarship to a student in need of financial assistance and who meets the necessary criteria.

Accounting
Kathy Marszalek Memorial Scholarship (G444) 2 @ $2,000 each
In memory of Professor Kathy Marszalek, late Coordinator of Accounting at College of DuPage, this scholarship is offered annually to a student enrolled in accounting. Primary purpose is student's career objectives and scholastic performance. Secondary focus is given to financial and/or special needs.

- Have a 2.5 GPA or better in accounting classes and have and maintain a cumulative overall GPA of 2.0 or better

Keiser Accounting Scholarship (G419) 1 @ $2,000
In recognition of the benefit that COD supplied Tom Keiser by providing education at a critical point in his life; and supporting his pursuit of an education which enabled him to access a successful entrepreneurial career. This scholarship was established to benefit students who might also be at a place in their life where such support can make a difference to the direction of their future ability to provide for themselves and their families.

Foundation's Returning Adult Scholarship (G915)
15 @ $1,750 each
To support returning adults in need of financial assistance to attend College of DuPage.
- Be 25 years of age or older
- Resident of District 502
- Be enrolled in a certificate or degree or transfer program
- Registered for or intend to register for at least 6 credit hours
- Be denied a Federal Pell Grant and Illinois MAP Grant
- Have a 2.0 GPA or better

Anthropology
Ellen Johnson Memorial Scholarship (G220) 1 @ $1,000
To honor the memory of Ellen Johnson, an Anthropology professor at COD, a lifelong learner and educator.

Automotive
Mercedes Benz Scholarship (G923) 1 @ $500
To offer a scholarship to a student who plans to enroll in the Automotive Technology Program, or who is retraining for entry into the job market.

Behavioral Science
Harkins Women's Scholarship for Excellence in Sociology (G384)

To honor a female student who has demonstrated excellence in the study of Sociology and to encourage a student to pursue Sociology as a field of study.

Walter R. Jones Memorial Scholarship (G405) 1 @ $2,000
In memory of Walter R. Jones; Psychology Professor at COD. This scholarship is offered annually to students with a major in Behavioral Sciences to recognize and reward academic excellence.

To assist a graduating senior from Lyons Township North; Nazareth Academy or Hinsdale South high schools who has made an exceptional effort through school or community activities.

Ange Mahnke Memorial Scholarship (G922) 1 @ $1,000
To offer a scholarship to a student who shares Ange and Robert Mahnke's commitment to public service.

- Have a GPA of 2.0 or better
- Career goal in one of the following: social services or government or education or psychology or child care or health services
Naperville Rotary Charities & the Rotary Club of Naperville Scholarship (G501) Amount varies up to $6,000 each
To assist students who are in need of financial aid to pursue education in vocational; technical and academic courses eventually leading to a 2 or 4 year degree.

Student Ambassador Scholarship (G519) 1 @ $500
To recognize a student involved in campus life through the student ambassador program and who has ambitions to continue their education at a four year institution upon graduating from COD.

Wendell Wood Scholarship (G935) 1 @ $500
To offer a scholarship to a student who shares Dr. Wendell Wood’s commitment to public service.

- Have a career goal toward social services or government or education or psychology or child care or health care services or a related field

Construction
Building Trades Scholarship (G267) 1 @ $2,000
The Suburban Building Officials Conference supports this scholarship to assist a student enrolled in Construction Management.
- Enrolled in the Construction Management or Architecture Technology program
- Have a 3.0 GPA or better
- Filed the FAFSA for the applicable academic year
Power Construction Scholarship (G472) 1 @ $2,500
To support outstanding construction management students in need of financial assistance so that a minimum of loan indebtedness is accrued.
- Be a construction management major
- At least a part-time student and maintain at least part-time status
- Have and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better
Road Builder Charities Scholarship (G370) 1 @ $1,000 each
To encourage students to enter into the construction field.

Criminal Justice/Paralegal
Donald J. Craft Memorial Scholarship (G306) 1 @ $500
To support a student pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice and to honor the memory and service of Oak Brook Police Officer Donald J. Craft.
- Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA in my Criminal Justice courses at COD
- Completed at least 20 credit hours at COD
- Completed at least two Criminal Justice courses while at COD

The Honorable William J. Bauer Scholarship for Paralegal and Criminal Justice Studies (G953) 1 @ $500
In honor of the Honorable William J. Bauer, this scholarship is offered to a student enrolled in either the Criminal Justice or Paralegal programs to help them realize their educational dreams and objectives.

Mayes/McLean Scholarship (G445) 1 @ $500
Provide assistance to African American students in Criminal Justice studies.
- Be African American
- Enrolled at a minimum as a part-time student at least six (6) credit hours
- Pursuing a degree or certificate in law enforcement or criminal justice
- Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (full-time) or a 2.5 cumulative GPA (part-time)

Michael Browning Memorial Scholarship (G266) 1 @ $500
To support a student pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice and to honor the memory of West Chicago Police Officer Michael A. Browning who was killed in the line of duty on April 20, 1992.

To support study in the Culinary Arts field and to promote the necessary skills required for a successful career in the field.

DiabeticLifestyle.com Scholarship (G207) 1 @ $500
To benefit culinary and baking students. Program will increase awareness of and knowledge about appropriate diabetes diets.

Kathy Testa Memorial Challenge Scholarship

To assist a culinary, pastry or hospitality student with tuition, supplies, books and fees through a culinary challenge which will require each contestant to prepare an entree and salad for three people in a two hour time limit.

To honor the memory of James Kohler who pursued a career in Food Service Administration but died in 1995 at 34 years of age. Also; to assist students who have been accepted into or enrolled in a certificate or associate degree program in Foodservice Administration or Hotel/Motel Management.

George Macht Scholarship Fund (G589) 1 @ $1,000 each
The Macht Scholarship was established through the generosity of many to honor George Macht's 30+ years exemplary service to College of DuPage Hospitality Program. George is a well-known and accomplished educator and chef whose teaching and leadership began in 1976 at COD and continued until his retirement in August 2008. His illustrious career is being recognized by financially assisting students majoring in one of the Culinary or Hospitality programs.

Donald B. Carter Memorial Engineering Scholarship (G455)

In memory of Donald Boone Carter's role as a business man, as an engineer; as a citizen and as a father, this fund will provide for the general expenses of students studying in the engineering field. This scholarship may be renewable dependent on review.
- Enrolled in one of the following: any engineering course or any calculus-based physics course (PHYSI 2111 or 2112 or 2115) or any calculus course beyond Calc I (MATH 2232 or 2233 or 2270)

S.C. Reed Scholarship (G498) 2 @ $2,500 each
With many in their family who attend College of DuPage; the Reed family would like to assist students by providing a merit based scholarship for those studying in the Math and Applied Sciences area with a preference given to a student majoring in the field of Engineering. In addition; the award is named after S.C. Reed; a man of high moral standards and a strong leader who worked in the engineering field.

Earl E. Swanson; Jr. Memorial Scholarship (G521)

To honor the memory of Earl Edward Swanson Jr., Renaissance man, artist, sculptor, musician, public servant, champion golfer, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather by supporting his love of art through financially assisting a student enrolled with the Associate Degree of Fine Arts. Earl, "Bud" to his friends, founder of the Danada Sculpture Gardens Association, encouraged others to enhance their like with art and music. Life size bronze sculptures he created are placed around DuPage County. He received many awards over his career and used his artistic abilities to serve his country winning a War Bond Poster contest in his youth before joining the Navy.

Tandaric Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship (G522) 1 @ $1,000 each
To honor the memory of Edward and Caroline Tandaric, musician and artist, and to assist a student enrolled in the Associate Degree of Fine Arts. Edward was a member of the Chicago Windy City Ramblers, the Illana Jazz Club and a life-long fan of Dixieland Jazz. Caroline was a member of the DuPage Art Guild and a local award winning artist with one of her paintings in the famous sofa scene from "Risky Business.”
