Chicagoland’s Choice for Jazz, Blues and News

Listener-supported WDCB, widely acknowledged as “Chicago’s Jazz Station,” has enriched the community since 1977. The popular public radio station serves Chicagoland at 90.9 FM and also streams its broadcasts from its website.

More than 100,000 listeners tune into WDCB weekly to enjoy its mix of jazz, blues, folk/Americana music, local news, and other programming. In addition, WDCB presents and sponsors numerous concerts throughout the year, as well as other events at the station’s headquarters and at Chicago-area venues.

For the past five years, the Chicago Music Awards has nominated WDCB for its “Most Popular College/Community Music Radio” category, and WDCB has won the honor twice.

Station Manager Scott Wager said it’s a constant challenge for any public radio station to operate efficiently and within its budget, and WDCB is no exception.

“We’re working hard to find additional sources of revenue, and to look at where grant moneys are available,” said Wager, who mentioned three areas of emphasis in WDCB’s ongoing fundraising efforts: a vehicle donation program, renewed efforts on individual giving, and employer matching grants.
