Experiencing a growth rate of 10 to 20 percent per year, an exciting Cosmetology industry can offer you a stable profession with salaries for full-time salon professionals in Illinois ranging from an attractive $30,000 to $50,000 per year.

And what a profession! Hairdressers, hairstylists and cosmetologists provide beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, styling and coloring hair, beauty care and advice. Cosmetologists train to give manicures, pedicures, scalp and facial treatments, makeup analysis, and cleaning and styling services for wigs and hairpieces.

The Cosmetology program at College of DuPage provides professional-level skills in the field of personal beauty. Students gain knowledge and skills in a broad range of disciplines including aesthetics, business, chemical processes, hair design, nail technology, safety, salon operations and sanitation. Students are eligible to apply for a cosmetology license from the state of Illinois upon successful completion of the program.
