Psychiatric Rehabilitation - Certificate

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation certificate at College of DuPage prepares students for entry into the mental health field as a psychiatric rehabilitation technician. These workers assess clients for program eligibility based on specific criteria, co-facilitate group interaction, help clients with medication management skills, and provide small-group and community presentations on health and safety issues concerning individuals with mental illness.

Upon completion of this one-year certificate, students are eligible to work as mental health technicians at health centers, state hospitals, transitional service centers, vocational rehabilitation agencies, group homes, nursing homes and many other types of facilities.

Students in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation certificate program at COD are required to complete four courses on psychiatric rehabilitation, health skills, and vocational and community living skills. In addition, they must complete 300 hours of fieldwork to earn a Psychiatric Rehabilitation certificate.
