Faculty Spotlight: Bob Clark
Bob Clark became interested in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration field because of his stepfather, Pete.
"He was a stationary engineer in the Chicagoland area for 32 years, and I was always interested in his work stories and lessons," he said.
Clark managed his own HVACR/electrical business and worked as an industrial maintenance mechanic (packaging, facilities and electrical) in the chemical manufacturing industry. He also taught part-time at Joliet Junior College and discovered a love for teaching, which he now shares with his students at College of DuPage.
"Personally, I think that I can have a greater effect on the industry by training technicians. Career and technical education has both philosophical and coaching pedagogical components," he said. "The most important takeaways that students should leave COD with are self-thought troubleshooting, professionalism and fundamentals.
"It's inspiring to be able to deliver a cost-effective education that can change someone’s life and standard of living forever."
