Student Spotlight: Emily Hollingsworth

Emily Hollingsworth
Major: Associate in Arts
Hometown: Naperville
Emily Hollingsworth started her college career at Carroll University with plans to become a nurse. But after one semester, she knew that was not the career for her.
"I liked business and psychology and decided that Human Resources combined both," she said.
Hollingsworth transferred to College of DuPage mainly for its affordability and location
close to home. While at
COD, she also solidified her decision to pursue a career in Human Resources Management.
"My Abnormal Psychology class at COD strongly impacted me," she said. "I already knew that I enjoyed taking psychology courses, but it helped me realize that whatever I ended up declaring as a major, I wanted that major to incorporate psychology."
After earning her Associate in Arts degree, she plans to transfer to North Central College and pursue a bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and a minor in Psychology. Then she would like to land a job at a big corporation and climb her way up the ladder.
Thanks to her start at COD, Hollingsworth is looking forward to her future career.
"College of DuPage is helping me meet my goals by giving me a good college education at an affordable price," she said. "This allows me to continue on to my bachelor’s degree with less debt than most college juniors would have."
