Student Spotlight: Frederick Joshua
Frederick Joshua has played basketball his entire life. While he chose College of DuPage because of its strong academic reputation and its close proximity to home, he also played on the basketball team.
“My experience was great on the team. My first year I didn’t play much at the beginning. But I worked hard and stayed positive and the second half of the season I played a lot,” he said. “My second year, I played a lot and we did really well as a team, which made it more fun because we were winning.”
Joshua enjoys dealing with numbers. He also likes the critical thinking aspect of his major, which was business. In 2016, he earned his associate’s degree.
“I want to be an agent. I want to own my own management firm and other businesses, too. It’s a long ways away but I will get there.”
He is thankful for the help and support he has received at College of DuPage.
“I learned a lot about what it takes to be successful in life – which is hard work and dedication and putting 100 percent effort in anything you do,” he said. “The teachers and counselors were great and really do whatever they can to help you.
“I would tell kids that if they choose COD, make sure they use all of the resources they have to help you succeed. COD is wonderful and there is a lot of opportunity here.”
