Student Spotlight: Kelly Nichol
Kelly Nichol always loved taking care of others.
“I often put others’ needs ahead of my own, and I realized a few years ago that I could have a career taking care of others,” she said.
She turned to College of DuPage, which was convenient and allowed her to study nursing at an affordable rate. Nichol also received several scholarships from the COD Foundation: the BethAnn Morgese Scholarship, Alice Giordano Alumni Scholarship, Jerry Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship, and Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship.
“If it wasn’t for COD and all of the support the school has provided me, I wouldn’t be able to graduate with my Associate Degree in Nursing,” she said.
Having graduated, Nichol passed her NCLEX and now is looking for a job. She also is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through COD’s 2+2 program with Purdue University.
Nichol is grateful to have turned to COD.
“The Nursing program is a tough program, and I would recommend not trying to work while pursuing it,” she said. “But even though it’s hard, keep trucking through it because it will all be worth it in the end.”
