Student Spotlight: Kevin Zeng
Ever since his freshman year in high school, Kevin Zeng was interested in architecture.
But he wasn't sure whether it could be a career. So, during his first year at College of DuPage, he took general education courses.
"I needed to go to COD to bring up my GPA, as well as the fact that it has a great transfer guide to some of the in-state schools that I wanted to go to," he said. "COD gave me the opportunity to gain a fresh start after high school, and I've met many professors along the way who have changed my perspective on my career outlook."
After starting in the Architecture program, Zeng knew it was a career he wanted to pursue.
"Eventually I would like to graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then go on to get my master's degree in Architecture. Whether that is at UIUC or somewhere else is a bridge I will cross later," he said. "My ultimate goal would be to design something that would remind people that our generation can and will be better than our predecessors.
"I strongly urge students to come to the Architecture program at COD and have an open mind. Don't be bothered by the fact that your beliefs will be challenged. It's a good thing when you start to think about the bigger picture."
