Purpose of Using Strengths-Based Approach to Teaching and Learning at College of DuPage
College of DuPage is actively pursuing a strengths-based approach to teaching and learning. By focusing on the talents of each student and employee, we will encourage the personal, professional and academic development of our community.
Five Goals:
- Every employee will be provided an opportunity to take the StrengthQuest Assessment.
- Every employee will understand the strengths-based approach concept.
- Every student will be provided an opportunity to take the StrengthQuest Assessment through Orientation, Class, Counseling/Advising, Office of Student Life or Career Services.
- Supervisors and leaders will be encouraged to use the strengths-based approach with their work groups.
- A campus-wide team of certified strength-trainers will be available for ongoing consultation
and workshops.

Strengths also play a role in leadership. Whether you are a leader of a program or division, or simply want to be a better member of a leadership team, strengths will help you on your journey.

It is not important to have well-rounded individuals but it is important to have well-rounded teams. In this module, you will learn how to communicate and work in teams based on your strengths and the strengths of others.
