Scholars Awards

The College of DuPage Scholars Award is College of DuPage’s premier merit-based scholarship. The competition is fierce and a limited number of scholarships are awarded each year. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a Community College District 502 high school graduate, class of 2016.
  • Have applied for admission to College of DuPage
  • Submit a 250-word Personal Statement
  • Submit a 500 word Essay (topic given at time of applying for scholarship)
  • Hold a weighted or unweighted high school GPA of 3.8/4.0 on a seventh semester high school transcript; OR
  • ACT 27 score or above.

Scholars Award Descriptions


The Presidential Scholars Award covers up to 64 hours of in-district tuition.  Fees and books are not covered by the Presidential Scholars Award. As part of the scholarship, the student will be automatically enrolled in the College of DuPage Honors Program and the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. The $75.00 membership fee for Phi Theta Kappa will be waived.

Board of Trustees Scholar

The Board of Trustees Scholars Award is a $2500 award - $1250 per semester. The scholarship covers only covers tuition.   Fees and books are not included in the Board of Trustees Scholars Award.  As part of the scholarship, the student will be automatically enrolled in the College of DuPage Honors Program. This scholarship is renewable annually.     

How to Apply

  • Applications for the Scholars Award will open for the 2016-2017 academic year on January 15, 2016. Deadline to apply is March 23, 2016.

Award Notification

Recipients of Scholars Award will be notified the week of April 11, 2016.

Scholars Award Guidelines

To maintain the scholarship, students are expected to adhere to the following requirements: 

      • Pursue a degree or certificate.
      • Be enrolled full-time. Recommended 15 credit hours per semester for timely completion of graduation requirements.
      • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
      • Complete a minimum of 15 Honors credit hours including an Honors Seminar or HUMNT 2210 Leadership Development course.
      • For Presidential Scholars Only -  All Presidential Scholars are required to complete 20 hours of approved volunteer service during the first year of the scholarship. A Presidential or Board of Trustees notation will be included on the final transcript upon successful completion of all graduation and scholarship requirements.

Note: If a student fails to comply with the above requirements, they will no longer be considered a Presidential or Board of Trustees Scholar. The student would then be responsible for payment in full of all tuition fees after that semester. Please note that the Scholars Award cannot be reinstated even should the student achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in the future.

College of DuPage welcomes 130 incoming Presidential Scholars Award recipients and their families to campus during the 2014 Scholars Reception.
