Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees are the cost you will pay to attend College of DuPage. The cost of tuition at COD depends on where you live. Students who live within Community College District 502 for at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester are classified as residents of the College of DuPage district and charged the in-district tuition rate.

Students whose legal residence is outside Community College District 502, but are employed for a minimum of 35 scheduled hours per week within District 502 may also be entitled to receive the in-district tuition rate.

Tuition Rate by Residency Status

Tuition at College of DuPage is based on residency status. Tuition and fees are subject to change. 

In-district tuition is available to students who live within Community College District 502 for at least 30 days before the beginning of the semester. 

  • Fall 2024: $152 per credit hour ($122 tuition, plus $30 fees)
  • Lab fees and material fees are charged for certain courses and will be indicated at the time of registration. 
  • For in-district residents, an additional $16 fee per credit hour is charged to audit a course.
  • Certain health care programs charge an additional rate. See the variable tuition section below for more information.

In-district senior citizen tuition is available to District 502 residents age 65 or older.

  • Fall 2024: $76 per credit hour
  • Lab fees and material fees are charged for certain courses and will be indicated at the time of registration.
  • The in-district senior citizen tuition rate is only available for credit classes. The tuition rate is not available for non-credit or audited classes.

Out-of-district tuition is available to students who reside in Illinois, but outside of District 502.

  • Fall 2024: $355 per credit hour ($325 tuition, plus $30 fees)
  • Lab fees and material fees are charged for certain courses and will be indicated at the time of registration.
  • For out-of-district residents, an additional $70 fee per credit hour is charged to audit a course
  • Certain health care programs charge an additional rate. See the variable tuition section below for more information.
  • Out-of-district Illinois residents who present authorization from their community college district for an approved program will be charged the in-district amount per credit hour. If a class or program is not fully funded, the student is responsible for the balance.  

Out-of-state tuition is for students who reside outside of the state of Illinois.

International student tuition is for students who reside outside of the United States.

Tuition Rate by Course Type

Tuition varies according to a hybrid, internet-based course or variable tuition program. Tuition and fees are subject to change. 

HYB courses are a variation of online and in-person learning.  Hybrid courses are charged based on the student's residency status.

Fall 2024:

  • In-district: $152 per credit hour
  • Out-of-district: $355 per credit hour
  • Out-of-state: $425 per credit hour
  • International: $425 per credit hour

Online (NET) courses are taught completely online and follow instructor timelines with interaction occurring mostly through discussion boards and written messages. 

Fall 2024:

$152 per credit hour

VCM courses meet in real-time on specified days and times as classes normally would in-person, but the class is completely online. The use of video chat software allows students regular face-to-face contact, but in a virtual format. VCM courses are charged based on the student's residency status.

Fall 2024:

$152 per credit hour

Variable tuition programs include Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Imaging Sonography, Radiation Therapy and Proton Therapy.

Fall 2024:

  • In-district: $274 per credit hour ($244 tuition, plus $30 fees)
  • Out-of-district: $355 per credit hour ($325 tuition, plus $30 fees)
  • Out-of-state: $425 per credit hour ($395 tuition, plus $30 fees)
  • International: $425 per credit hour ($395 tuition, plus $30 fees)

Work In-District Waiver

Students whose legal residence is outside Community College District 502, but are employed for a minimum of 35 scheduled hours per week within District 502, may be entitled to receive the in-district tuition rate. Tuition adjustments will not be considered after mid-term. View the Enrollment Important Dates and Deadlines for more information.

To be considered for the work in district residency classification, a student must provide the following two documents for each semester:

  1. A letter from the employer located in District 502 that includes all of the following criteria:
    • Written on official company letterhead.
    • Include company name, in-district address, phone number, and email address.
    • Include student's name, student’s address, and College of DuPage student ID number.
    • Include a start date with the company, and it must be on or before the start of the academic term.
    • Include a statement indicating the student is a full-time employee working a minimum of 35 regularly scheduled hours per week.
    • Be signed and dated by a supervisor, owner, or a human resources representative at the company.
    • Include a company phone number to verify employment.
  2. A copy of a recent pay stub or earnings statement issued by the company to the student and dated within 30 days.

Students can submit the letter and pay stub in person, via email, mail, or fax to the Office of Student Registration Services. The Office of Student Registration Services will make the final determination on residency status. No tuition adjustments are made after the mid-term. Call (630) 942-2377 for more information.
