Faculty Stories: Brock Stout

Brock Stout

Program: Computer and Information Technology (CIT)

Brock Stout wasn't interested in computers until after college.

“I was working in sales and started using Windows 95 and Excel to make spreadsheets and track my leads,” he explained. “I learned all the MS Office products and eventually found a home in network administration.”

His interest eventually led to running two small businesses: one that sells online labs to colleges and tech schools and a second one involving network administration. It also led to education, and he currently works at College of DuPage as a full-time instructor in the Computer and Information Technology program.

“I enjoy teaching,” he said. “Technology can be really fun and sharing your best practices with interested students can be extremely rewarding. I hope my students understand the ‘whys’ as much as the ‘hows.’”
