Urzula Urzua began teaching Test Prep classes in 1997, starting with GED – now High School Equivalency – and then adding SAT and ACT.
“I worked with a private company out of Glenview. I enjoyed bringing tips to my students and seeing them improve,” she said.
Earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University, she also taught high school biology and chemistry. Now Urzua works solely at College of DuPage, where she teaches test prep courses.
“I love seeing progress in my students and I live for the ‘light bulb’ moments,” she said. “I want my students to come away with the confidence that they can do really well on these standardized tests. Many students have the basic skills but don’t know how to deal with the presentation of information. That makes a huge difference.”
Having seen many changes in test presentation and scoring, Urzua always stays up-to-date in order to provide the most current and thorough instruction possible.
“My students inspire me to work harder and to gather whatever tips and tricks will help them get the high scores they want,” she said.
