Outstanding Advisors 2015-2016

Sally N. Fairbank (Glen Ellyn), Professor of Paralegal Studies, Business and Applied Technology Division

Sally N. Fairbank’s work in guiding students includes advice on the different specializations available to paralegals, requiring active participation in the field through practicum experiences. During Portfolio Night, students nearing program completion prepare a promotion “booth” which includes work products, career assessments and personal details. Each student receives detailed feedback that helps them refine their professional presentation. Fairbank also partners with Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services, Career Services, Student Life and other areas to provide the best advice for her students.

Nancy Hemphill (Naperville), Student Success Counselor, Student Affairs Division

As a part-time counselor with one of the longest tenures in the Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services area, Nancy Hemphill has served countless students and mentored other part-time counselors who have joined the department after her. In addition, she has often shared her wisdom and a listening ear to department leaders. Her outside interests and commitment to family have led her into the world of film production, including behind-the-scenes support, an on-screen role and credits as an executive producer on her son’s film projects.
