Mirta Pagnucci, Associate Professor of French and Italian

Mirta Pagnucci has been a Professor of French and Italian at College of DuPage since 2011, and an adjunct instructor in Italian at COD since 2009. She was born in Tuscany, Italy, close to Siena, and has an M.A. in Comparative Literature and a Ph.D. in Italian with a minor in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe and was a Fulbright Exchange teacher to Argentina in 2008 where she taught English at the Universidad de Cuyo. During the 2012-13 academic year, she participated in the exchange program with Xi'an, China through the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs. She has directed numerous study abroad programs to both Italy and France. Before coming to COD she taught in the Foreign Language Department at Northern Illinois University. In addition to her academic interests, Professor Pagnucci enjoys reading historical fiction, learning languages, travel, music, art and her family.


Co Director: Zhi Y. Liu, Instructor of French and Chinese

Zhi Y. Liu is an Instructor of Chinese and French at College of DuPage since 1992. A native of Shanghai, China, she holds a B.A. in Modern and Classical French Language and Literature and a minor in Chinese Language from the Shanghai Foreign Language Institute, a M.A. in French Literature from The Ohio State University and finished her Ph.D. courses at University of Maryland. Liu has extensive teaching experience in Chinese. In addition to COD, she has taught different levels of Chinese classes at Bradley University and Elgin Community College. Her teaching philosophy is to guide and mentor students with a caring, inspirational, challenging and secure environment where ideas can be shared and respected.Twice awarded the outstanding adjunct faculty award at COD. During the summer of 2013 and again in 2017 she was the co-director of French Study Abroad programs to Bordeaux, France and co-directed the China program in the summers of 2014, 2015 and 2016. In addition to her academic interests, she enjoys reading, and exploring different cultures and arts.
