Build and learn a new skill set as a Caregiver and uncover your career potential in healthcare.
COD Continuing Education now offers an online Caregiver course, intended for those providing care for family members requiring in-home care, and/or for those seeking introductory training in caregiving as they pursue entry-level positions in the home services industry.
This online synchronous course will provide an overview of the basic principles of caregiving including:
- Assisting with basic hygiene and activities of daily living
- Infection control
- Dietary and nutritional needs
- Time management
- Safety and emergency preparedness
- Legal and ethical responsibilities
This course may also be beneficial as an initial step in a longer healthcare program of study.
Overall employment as a Caregiver is projected to grow 36 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby-boom generation ages and the elderly population grows, the demand for the services of home health aides and personal care aides will continue to increase. The median annual wage was $24,200 in May 2018.
