Culinary Assistant/ Intern

Work side-by-side with the chefs and qwners of Skokie Provisions to assist in the production of our direct-to-consumer and wholesale fresh and shelf-stable products. Production takes place in our Elk Grove Village kitchen facility. Team members are given the opportunity to work in a dedicated start-up artisan food manufacturing company. Focus is on a “farm-to-jar “philosophy focusing on products that provide restaurant quality preparations for an elevated home dining experience as well as supporting independent food and beverage companies requiring similar products in their operations.

Job duties include:  

  • Culinary preparation (cutting, washing, peeling, cooking)                                  
  • Scaling and packaging of finished products
  • Manual recording data on various kitchen logs
  • Use of computer for printing and data entry
  • Counting and organization of Inventory 
  • Kitchen sanitation including ware washing and facilities maintenance 
  • Receiving/storeroom management. 
  • Labeling of finished products
  • Working in a team environment with shared resources


  • Rates start at $16 per hour as a 1099 independent contractor

Desired Certification and Experience:

  • 3 months foodservice experience is preferred but not required
  • A culinary certificate or higher is preferred but not required
  • Approved Food Handler Certificate - if available
