Second-year students Katlyn Allen, Mykah Berkompas and first-year student Sierra Gibson have been at the forefront of the College of DuPage Chaparrals’ women’s basketball championship season.

All three were chosen for this season’s All-Region 4 honors squad, in a vote determined by region coaches upon conclusion of the regular season.

“Those three handled business all season long,” Head Coach Abigail Talley said. “In the last couple of games, we’ve regarded our success as team wins where everyone has contributed. But for those three, no question about it, they are all region in my opinion.”

The women’s basketball team, which claimed the Region 4 title for the first time in 15 seasons, takes its 15-15 overall record into the Great Lakes District Championship in Perrysburg, Ohio, where they will play defending national champion and top-ranked Owens Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. The winner advances to the NJCAA III National Championship on March 15-18 in Rochester, Minnesota.

The 15 wins are the most by a COD program since the Lady Chaps enjoyed an 18-14 overall record in 2013-14.
