Description of Organization
Harbor Light Hospice provides dignified end-of-life care and quality services that allow our patients and their families/significant others to live life richly, deeply, and meaningfully for as long as it may last, and to die with dignity in the setting of their choice.
Description of Service Learner Role
Empathetic volunteers will serve as Direct Care Patient Volunteers, visiting patients at facilities in DuPage area and engaging them with conversation, reading, music, going outdoors, assisting with activities, or holding hands and providing comfort. Special talents/interests such as music, dancing, athletics, and trivia can be used during your visits! (Patients have terminal diseases, such as Alzheimer's, dementia, COPD, CHF, and terminal cancers. Patients may/may not be able to talk, walk, or understand you.)

- Background Check
- TB Test and Physical at HLH expense with approved clinics in the area
- Driver's License and Auto Insurance
- Orientation of 4-5 Hours. (can be used towards total service hrs.)
- Visits of at least 2 Hrs. per week

20 per semester
Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
