Traffic Regulations & Citation Appeals

Designated parking areas have been established on campus for use by students, faculty, staff and visitors. College of DuPage Police officers are sworn peace officers in the State of Illinois and, as such, have the power to enforce the laws under Illinois Compiled Statutes. All students, faculty, staff and visitors of the campus are asked to abide by the following rules and regulations as established by the Police Department.

Parking Areas

All vehicles must be parked on pavement between the yellow parking lines. Parking on campus roadways, sidewalks or in parking lot traffic lanes is not permitted. Students are not allowed to park in the restricted or reserved parking spaces or in restricted and reserved faculty/staff parking lots. Blue light emergency call boxes are located throughout the campus and may be activated to summon help.

Overnight Parking

Overnight parking is not permitted, except for mechanical problems or when a student is on a college-sponsored trip. If you must leave your vehicle on campus overnight, notify the Police Department at (630) 942-2000.

Accessible Parking

Temporary accessible parking permits are available from the Center for Access and Accommodations, Student Services Center (SSC), Room 3249 (630) 942-2154. Accessible parking is available throughout campus. All accessible parking requires a displayed window permit or state-issued accessible plate. There is a fine of $250 for illegal parking in accessible areas.

Motorcycles

Seasonal motorcycle parking is permitted in posted areas. Additionally, motorcycles may park in any legal parking space on campus. Motorcycles are NOT allowed to park in cross-marked walkways or accessible areas unless the operator has a valid accessible parking permit.

Accidents

If you are involved in a vehicle accident on campus, notify the Police Department immediately to complete an accident report. All accidents that result in personal injury, death or damages exceeding $1,500 must be reported to the State of Illinois. All reports of personal injury of students, faculty, staff and visitors should be directed to the Police Department for appropriate treatment and/or assistance.

Violations and Fines

In accordance with Illinois Compiled Statutes, the Board of Trustees of College of DuPage has established a schedule of fines and penalties for violation of regulations on the college campus. Vehicles parked illegally will be immobilized or towed at the owner’s expense.
