Schedule a Free Tax Preparation Appointment
The COD VITA-Free Tax Prep program is able to prepare federal and state income tax returns for 2021, 2022 2023 and 2024 tax years. This service is available to all community members regardless of income level. If you have concerns about the complexity of your return contact taxprep@cod.edu.
Tax preparation services are provided by COD Accountancy students enrolled in Accounting 2200, Income Tax Preparation. All students are certified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and supervised by COD Accountancy Faculty who are also IRS certified. In partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), College of DuPage is able to provide tax preparation services FREE to everyone.

Directions to the College of DuPage Glen Ellyn Campus
The College of DuPage, Student Resource Center (SRC) is located just east of Lambert Rd. on the south side of Fawell Blvd. To access the Student Resource Center (SRC) enter Parking Lot Fawell C as designated on the Campus Map. There is handicap parking conveniently located in Parking Lot Fawell C closest to the building.
Once you enter the building using Student Resource Center (SRC), Entrance 1, take the elevator up to the third floor, and enter the Academic Computing Lab, Student Resource Center (SRC), Room 3000. What to Expect
In-person Tax Preparation Service - Tax returns will be completed during your scheduled appointment time while working with the tax preparer. Completed returns will be reviewed by the instructor and taxpayer. Taxpayer and spouse (if applicable) will sign an IRS e-file Signature Authorization Form giving us permission to electronically file your returns. Taxpayers will receive a paper copy of the completed returns for their records. Your tax returns will be electronically filed in one to two business days.
Documents to Bring to Your Appointment
Intake Form 13614-C can be completed and printed in advance of your appointment. Please bring your completed copy to your appointment. (Paper copies of the Intake Form will also be available when you check in for your appointment. Please allow an extra 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment to complete.)
- A Social Security card or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for taxpayer and spouse
- A state ID card, driver’s license or passport for taxpayer and spouse
- Form 1095-A (if insurance is provided by the Health Insurance Marketplace®)
- A copy of 2023 tax returns (federal and state)
- Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit

If you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms please reschedule your appointment, as clients who appear physically unwell at the time of their appointment will not be seen.
