Who can enroll in the program?
- Students who have completed an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing (ADN) at COD with a 2.50 GPA or better and hold a current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- New students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing offered by Benedictine University at College of DuPage. Nursing is a limited enrollment program. Students should consult with the admission packet.
- Students who graduated from COD's AAS degree in Nursing and went elsewhere can be considered for admission for this 3+1 program if they complete any necessary prerequisites. A transcript evaluation needs to be completed by both schools.
Program Overview
- For students earning an AAS in Nursing, the program consists of 120 credit hours, including 86 credit hours of COD courses and 34 credit hours of Benedictine University coursework.
- All additional coursework beyond the AAS degree must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
- Benedictine will offer the final-year Nursing classes in an accelerated hybrid format as well as online, for degree completion by COD students who are age 21 or older and have earned the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
- Students should apply for admission to the Benedictine University RN to BSN program upon admission to the COD ADN Program.
The Advantage
The 3+1 program allows students to complete their AAS degree from College of DuPage. Once completed, our students are then allowed to take additional courses beyond their degree from COD paying our much lower tuition rates. The final year of classes are taught by Benedictine University faculty and are offered on College of DuPage's campus or online at a significantly reduced rate, making the goal of continuing an education a reality for more students. This program exemplifies College of DuPage's mission to make education more affordable for its students while stressing academic quality, first-class faculty and extraordinary learning environments.

Math Note: There is an additional math requirement in the 3rd year that is required for the 3+1 BSN program with Benedictine University. Students should work with the College of DuPage Counseling, Advising, and Transfer Services office to plan for the additional math requirement. Students using financial aid must complete the associate of ADN degree requirements prior to taking the additional COD coursework.
Students utilizing financial aid must apply and be accepted into Benedictine University prior to taking any classes beyond the ADN. It is recommended that students using financial aid should begin applying to Benedictine University one semester before completing the ADN and ask for the financial aid consortium agreement. Students also need to apply for graduation from the ADN program at COD. Not doing so will result in not receiving financial aid.

At least 34 of the 120 semester credit hours for graduation must be completed at Benedictine University.
- +CHEM 1211 is recommended as this course is required of many graduate programs that prepare individuals as advanced practice nurses. CHEM 1211 is equivalent to Benedictine University CHEM 1101 Introduction to Chemistry (3 credits) and 1102 Introduction to Chemistry Laboratory (1 credit). Additional QPS designated courses are listed in the Benedictine University Undergraduate Catalog.

- COD courses are not listed in sequence. The ADN degree must be completed and conferred in order to enroll in the NRHL course sequence. Please consult with your COD academic advisor to determine degree requirements and when COD courses should be taken. Students will enroll in Benedictine courses in a designated sequence with their cohort group.
- Benedictine University reserves the right to evaluate transcripts for any year 1-3 coursework completed at another institution and does not guarantee that courses accepted by COD will be accepted by Benedictine University.
