The College of DuPage Board of Trustees has selected Sahin S. “Sonny” Jutla of Roselle as the new trustee.
Jutla will fill the vacancy left by Heidi Holan, who resigned from the Board last month due to her move out of the district. The Board is required by law to appoint a trustee to serve until the next general election in April 2025, and Jutla was unanimously selected during a special Board meeting on Aug. 29.
A graduate of the John Marshall Law School, Jutla is an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago. He also is a trial team coach at the University of Illinois-Chicago Law School and is an appointed member for the public to the COD Audit Committee.
Board Chair Christine Fenne praised Jutla for his continued service to the COD community.
“Sonny’s prior knowledge of COD and its fiscal structure will help him quickly get up to speed on the business ahead of us,” she said.
The Board accepted applications from District 502 residents for the position and conducted in-person interviews with more than 25 candidates before selecting Jutla.
Interim President Dr. Christine M. Hammond welcomes Jutla to the Board as the College looks toward the future.
“His professional and community experience, as well as his familiarity with the College, will be an asset to the Board as it moves further into our search for a permanent College of DuPage president,” she said.
