Financial Aid Dates

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application typically opens Oct. 1 and closes on June 30 every year.  Since student aid is limited, you must follow all FAFSA application deadlines in order to use your funds for your education.

Stop by the Addison Center from 2 to 5 p.m. for help in completing your FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.

Stop by the Naperville Center from 2 to 5 p.m. for help in completing your FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.

Eligible students may charge required books and supplies against their available financial aid for the Spring Semester 2025.

Students must be in Good Standing, have a Financial Aid Offer Letter in their Financial Aid Self Service and available funds for books.

You can check your status by going to inside.cod.edu > myACCESS for students > Financial Aid > Financial Aid Self Service

This is the earliest the following financial aid funds will be disbursed to your student account to cover any outstanding tuition and/or book charges for Spring Semester 2025. 

  • Pell, MAP and SEOG Grants
    Students who are enrolled in 2nd 12-week and 2nd 8-week sessions will have their grant funds disbursed after each session starts and attendance is confirmed.
  • Scholarships
    Students who are enrolled in 2nd 12-week and 2nd 8-week sessions will have their Scholarship funds disbursed after each session starts and attendance is confirmed.

Any grant funds in excess of tuition and/or book charges will be refunded to you about 10 to 14 business days later. Students are encouraged to sign up for eRefunds.

This is the earliest the Federal Direct Loan funds will be disbursed to your student account to cover any outstanding tuition and/or book charges for Spring Semester 2025. 

  • Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized and PLUS Loans
    • Scenario 1: Students who are enrolled in at least 6 eligible credit hours for the 16 week, 1st 12-week or 1st 8-week sessions.
    • Scenario 2: Students who are enrolled in at least 6 eligible credit hours for only the 2nd 12-week or 2nd 8-week sessions will have their loans disburse after those sessions have started and attendance is confirmed.
    • Scenario 3: Students who are enrolled in a combination of a 16 week, 1st 12-week, 1st 8-week, 2nd 12-week or 2nd 8-week -week sessions will have their loans disburse after 6 eligible credit hours have started and attendance is confirmed.

Any loan funds in excess of tuition and book charges will be refunded to you about 10 to 14 business days later. Students are encouraged to sign up for eRefunds

Students who have been placed on financial aid suspension can submit a SAP Appeal

This is the last day eligible students can use available financial aid funds in the Bookstore for Spring Semester 2025.

Archived Dates

Anyone providing information on the FAFSA must have a FSA ID.  Get ready for the 2025-2026 application that opens December 2024 by attending our FSA ID Workshop

Students can apply for scholarships online at cod.academicworks.com
