Divisional Outstanding Faculty Award for excellence in teaching, 2011-2012
Administration
Served as Interim Associate Dean for English and Academic ESL for the 2013-2014 academic year. Mentored, supervised, and evaluated 30 full-time and and over 130 part-time faculty members. Scheduled and coordinated over 500 total sections for each academic term. Wrote and revised policy and curriculum documents. Researched and resolved student and faculty concerns. Directed program review, led committee meetings, and worked with external divisions on key initiatives and projects.
Assessment and Quality Improvement
Served on a quality improvement initiative examining developmental student enrollment, retention, and success. Strategized new enrollment practices to ensure timely developmental placement and registration college-wide.
Served on an assessment initiative examining developmental writing student outcomes. Helped devise and implement a data collection tool for tracking developmental students' enrollment, retention, and success in future college-level coursework.
Curriculum Development
Designed, articulated, and implemented a new world literature course, Eng 2262: Non-Western Literature in English, as a permanent addition to the College of DuPage course catalogue.
Designed and implemented an online version of Eng 2262: Non-Western Literature and a hybrid version of English 1101: College Composition I
Co-designed, -articulated, and -implemented a new developmental writing course, Eng 0490: Basic Writing, as outreach to the College of DuPage's most at-risk students
Multicultural and Global Education
Awarded a 2010-11 International Professional Exchange by the Illinois Consortium for
International Studies and Programs (ICISP). Served as a two-week observer and guest
instructor in the Languages Division at ROC Nijmegen, a secondary vocational college
in the Netherlands
Integrated a cross-curricular, cross-institutional, web-based global simulation project (IL-INMP) into all sections of my research writing courses. Assigned to represent a country's interests on an issue of international concern, students collaboratively research and compose policy proposals for synchronous negotiation with other online participants. Countries/issues modeled have included Nigeria on child labor, Vietnam on water rights, and France and Cuba on pharmaceutical patent law
