MAC Announces 2024 Lakeside Pavilion Outdoor Summer Series

The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage is proud to announce its 2024 Lakeside Pavilion Free Outdoor Summer Series. All events take place at COD's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. 

Programming runs Friday, July 12, through Friday, Aug. 9 and includes a Friday evening Pops Concert Series, Thursday evening WDCB LIVE Jazz Concert Series and a special event to celebrate the Olmec Trails outdoor summer public art project taking place throughout DuPage County.

To kick off the “Olmec Trails: Culture and Legacy” exhibit, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, Lakeside Pavilion will host “Olmec Family Fiesta.” This free event will feature live music, visual art, food vendors and more.

The outdoor exhibit, “Olmec Trails: Culture and Legacy,” will feature hand-painted, large-scale renditions of iconic Mesoamerican sculptures in an expansive exhibition highlighting the culture of the ancient Olmec civilization in a fresh and accessible way. COD will be home to nine of the 33 painted sculptures that will be installed throughout DuPage County beginning June 1 and be on display through October.

The Friday Night Pop Concert Series begins on July 12 with a special pops concert by New Philharmonic, the professional symphony orchestra in residence at the MAC, under the baton of Maestro Kirk Musprat. On July 19, The Brit Pack, a must-see tribute band, will perform the works of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, Radiohead, The Police and more. On July 26, Uptown Soul will take the Lakeside stage blending smooth stylings of R&B with contemporary hits. Finally, on Aug. 9, Elton Rohn will conclude the series with a performance of Elton John’s greatest hits. All Pop Music Series concerts are free of charge and begin at 7:30 p.m.

WDCB 90.9 FM, Chicago’s home for jazz, located on COD’s Glen Ellyn campus, curates the Thursday Evening WDCB LIVE Jazz Concert Series. Concerts include the soulful Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio known for their jazz-funk covers of greats from the 1960s and early 1970s, on July 18; and the highly acclaimed 20-year-old Indonesian jazz pianist Joey Alexander, a three-time Grammy nominee, on July 25. Both concerts are offered free of charge and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Audiences are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to the Thursday and Friday and night concerts to benefit the Glen House Food Pantry and COD Student Fuel Pantry.

All Lakeside Pavilion events take place outdoors. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors to Belushi Performance Hall in the MAC. Large blankets, large coolers and outside alcohol are not allowed. The Pavilion will not be open to anyone prior to 90 minutes before event start time. Reserving of space and holding areas is not allowed. Concessions will be available for purchase on site.
