Semester Study Abroad

Semester and Summer Study Abroad (partner programs)

COD students can study abroad almost anywhere in the world for a full semester or summer on programs organized and led by other colleges or program providers. COD students participate through agreements that allow them to earn COD credit and maintain financial aid through COD. Begin researching programs on the following websites and then schedule an appointment to discuss study abroad with COD. Students are eligible upon having completed 12 credit hours at COD with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0. Individual program eligibility rules may also apply.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for Field Studies/Study Abroad

In compliance with the Illinois Governor's Executive Order, vaccination or weekly testing is required for COD employees and students who are enrolled in in-person courses, including field studies and study abroad. Proof of vaccination is required. Instructions on how to upload your vaccination information, or comply with weekly testing, is found here. Destination-specific vaccination and testing requirements may apply for field studies and study abroad.

Partner Programs

Illinois Consortium of International Studies and Programs (ICISP, www.icisp.org) is a consortium of Midwest community colleges that offer summer and semester-long study abroad.

For other destinations, there are many other program providers. One of them, University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC, www.usac.edu), has provided students with study abroad programs for almost 30 years through the University of Nevada – Reno.
