The Diagnostic Medical Imaging Computed Tomography certificate program prepares students for careers as computed tomography (CT) technologists through academics, laboratories and clinical training. The two-semester program is for advanced students who have previously graduated from an accredited radiography or nuclear medicine program.
Students will practice using a CT Scanner located on-campus. Students will also learn how to conduct radiation experiments in a radiation laboratory. Within the program, students will take six courses. Two clinical courses are held in an affiliated CT department.
In addition to maintaining a current license in medical radiation technology from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), students must hold active national certification and registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and or nuclear medicine.
Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the ARRT's national certification exam in CT and earn continuing education credits.
