Project Hire-Ed is partnering with a local organization to hire a wirer/control panel builder apprentice. The position is full-time.
Position Overview
- Utilize bill of materials to identify and locate project components;
- Read and understand electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts. Possess a good understanding of electrical components;
- Affix terminals and wiring to panel as directed by project drawing, schematic and customer specific practices. Select appropriate wire gauges based on drawings, customer specific practices, Simplex standards, and component manufacturer and circuit requirements;
- Utilize hand tools, wire cutters, strippers and other equipment as needed;
- Utilize computer to make wire, terminal and component tags and affix as directed by project drawing;
- Identify defective components and/or inconsistencies in drawings;
- Utilize Job Traveler throughout production cycle.

- Self-starter, positive, professional;
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Detail oriented, strong analytical, technical and organizational skills;
- Possess problem-solving skills;
- Focus with a sense of urgency when required;
- Keep up with production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Minimum Qualifications/Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) required;
- 3-5 years in industrial, electrical control panel building preferred – training available;
- Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts;
- Understand, remember, apply, and communicate oral and/or written instructions or information.
