CARE is a volunteer program within Bensenville School District 2. CARE has been operational since 1996. Our volunteers are from our local high school, colleges, the Bensenville Community, surrounding towns, retired residents and retired teachers. CARE typically works with over 300 volunteers per year that provide at least one hour of academic support 1 day per week for the semester or whole school year.

Days/Hours Available for Service Learners
Available hours are during the school day when school is in session (typically Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Hours vary by school and early dismissal Tuesdays. No summer sessions.
Description of Service Learner Role
To provide at least one hour, one day per week of academic support to our students for the semester during the school day. A service learner needs to fill out a form of availability and grade preference. Once placed it would be the same day, time and placement each week. The volunteer can take on more than one assignment if they choose; keeping in mind that the commitment ends typically the week prior to college finals for the semester.
Organization Requirements
Complete a Form Application. Once the application is complete a facilitator will reach out to set up a meeting PRIOR to a confirmed placement. Once the placement is confirmed we will need a state photo ID and our volunteer background check form completed (at no cost) to provide a badge while the volunteer is in the building. We ask that college volunteers commit to attending until the week before finals for the semester.
