Project Hire-Ed is partnering with a local organization to hire a Maintenance Technician 1 apprentice.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician I to join our growing team! Providing maintenance to our equipment is critical to provide the quality products our customers demand. Our maintenance team ensures that our equipment and building exceed standards of operation, performance, cleanliness, and safety. The position requires a working knowledge of various trades while performing a wide variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance on sophisticated equipment, machines, and controls.
Job Functions for Maintenance Technician I
- Perform maintenance and calibration of equipment, machines, and systems.
- Inspect and check equipment for proper operating conditions, recommend necessary adjustments, log test readings, replace consumable equipment items.
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts by using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
- Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings and fixtures.
- Repair and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
- Identify and resolve equipment/machines malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement of components and parts.
- Support building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, structural, and HVAC maintenance.
- Completes maintenance tasks by using sound judgment with little or no supervision.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on single and 3 phase motors.
- Installs new equipment using forklifts and machinery moving equipment.
- Inspects machines and parts for wear, misalignment or other problems.
- Other relevant duties as assigned (to ensure safety, quality, performance, and cleanliness of our operations.)
Qualifications for Maintenance Technician I
- Experience with maintenance related types of work.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to obtain a powered industrial truck certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of purpose, function, and care for hand and power tools.
- Ability to effectively repair and maintain physical structure and operation of machinery.
- Ability to inspect and test machinery efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications for Maintenance Technician I
- Multiple years of experience in the electrical or mechanical maintenance field.
- Understanding of CNC machine operation.
- Degree in technical field.
- Basic computer skills (email, updating Excel files, searching web.)
- Understanding of safety compliance and guidelines involved with manufacturing including, but not limited to, machine guarding, lock-out/tag-out, and more.

Physical Working Demands
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate by using the English Language.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time (3-4 hours at a time) and the employee is regularly required to enter information into a computer.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds to support weight of machine components and be able to reach into machinery for several hours at a time. Position involves bending, pulling, pushing, and twisting to complete machine maintenance tasks.
- Must feel comfortable climbing ladder and with heights.
- Specific vision abilities required to this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment
- Most of workplace is in a temperature-controlled environment and with better than adequate lighting.
Compensation Type
- Hourly + monthly bonus potential.
- Reports to: Production Manager
- Hours: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
