Student Planning and myACCESS Assistance

College of DuPage has two self-service tools, Student Planning and myACCESS, which can be used to complete everyday tasks online 7 days a week. Follow the instructions on this page for the most common student tasks.

You may search the current schedule of classes as a guest, however, you must be an admitted College of DuPage student to log into the student portal and register for credit classes. If you have not applied to College of DuPage, visit Admissions and Outreach to get started. If you’re looking for non-credit continuing education classes, visit Continuing Education for more information.

What Would You Like To Do?

Important terminology to understand when searching and registering for classes:

Term

College of DuPage has three terms; Fall, Spring and Summer. There is no “winter” term. For term start and end dates, visit the Enrollment Important Dates and Deadlines.

Session/Course Type

The session refers to the length of time the course is offered. There are multiple sessions during each term. Spring/Fall term has 16-week, 12-week and 8-week long sessions and the Summer term has 10-week, 8-week and 5-week long sessions. The same class in any session is worth the same number of credits. It is important to pay attention to the session when choosing a section. Shorter sessions will be covering the same content as the 16-week session so students should expect a more rapid pace. Session start and end dates can be viewed on the academic calendar. Some classes are not offered in every session.

Section

The section of a course refers to the instructor, day/time, location, format, and session of a course. Most courses will have multiple sections being offered during a term. For students to register they must choose a specific section of the course.

Hybrid (HYB) format

These classes will have a section code that starts with HYB. They are mix of face-to-face, internet and/or virtual class meeting. Look at the location to determine if there is a face-to face component or if it is fully online.

Online (NET) format

These classes will have a section code that starts with NET. They are taught exclusively online following instructor timelines and learning outcomes . Only the start and end date will be listed. Students are required to log in daily but may do so at any time except for due dates/times for homework, quizzes, and tests. Students should always view the Section Details for any other requirements as some courses may require in-person proctored exams and webcam enabled live discussions.

Virtual Classroom Meeting (VCM) format

These classes will have a section code that starts with VCM. They meet exclusively online in real time at specified days and times using video chat software. This format is designed to allow students regular face-to-face contact in a virtual format.

Waitlist

When a student attempts to register for a class that is full/closed, the student may be notified that a waitlist is available to join. Before the start date of a class, if a seat becomes available the student in the number one spot on the waitlist is notified via their (dupage.edu) email. The spot is held for them until 11:59 p.m. the same day. If they fail to register they are removed from the waitlist and the next student is notified. The waitlist expires after the first day of class. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee entry into a class.

Students can either be registered for a course or waitlisted for one section per course. If a student registers for a different section of the same course, the student will be dropped from the waitlisted section. If there is a restrictive hold on the student’s record, it must be satisfied prior to enrolling.

Permits

On certain occasions a permit may be required for a student to register for a class. Permits are requested by the student and approved by the instructor. Visit the Permit Required Registration page for more information about permits and how to request a permit.
