Board Approves Tuition Increase for Fall 2026
By Jennifer Duda

Continuing to balance its commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities with its fiduciary responsibilities to local taxpayers, the College of DuPage Board of Trustees on March 19 authorized tuition increases for the 2026-2027 academic year.
As the largest community college in Illinois, COD remains focused on offering accessible and impactful educational opportunities, giving students strong academic programs, hands-on learning experience and clear paths to transfer or career opportunities.
Tuition and fees will increase $4 ($160) per credit hour for in-district residents, $9 ($368) for out-of-district students and $11 ($440) for out-of-state students, beginning with the fall 2026 semester.
A recent Illinois Community College Chief Financial Officer survey found rates will increase from $2 to $10 per credit hour across the state’s community colleges for fiscal year 2027.
College of DuPage President Dr. Muddassir Siddiqi said the increase allows the institution to continue to provide academic resources to students amid rising inflation.
“College of DuPage, like many institutions, is facing increased operating costs,” he said. “We continue to provide students with one of the most advanced learning environments and a diverse range of programming. Moderate tuition adjustments help address the growing needs of our students and those increases.”
COD Board Chair Christine Fenne said the College’s emphasis remains on the support and success of the institution’s students.
“We take this step to help align the institution with market pricing, ensure our students have access to the resources needed for success and to continue to serve as strong fiduciary stewards to our local taxpayers,” she said. “COD’s total cost remains below the state average, and the College provides many scholarships and financial assistance opportunities for those students in need. College of DuPage continues to be one of the most affordable and practical ways for students to reach their goals.”
