Chaps Win Three Straight Matches in Indiana

The College of DuPage men's volleyball team took its three-game winning streak on the road to Indiana on March 6 and 7, earning three more decisive victories to move its season record to 17-2.
On March 6, DuPage opened the trip with a matchup against the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana. The Chaparrals swept the Mighty Oaks with set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18.
Danny Overlin led the DuPage attack with 13 kills. Several other Chaps made an impact offensively as well. Adam Janowiak recorded six kills, Brayden Tejeda added five and Lance Mueller and Adam Sanchez each finished with four. DuPage ended the match with an impressive .269 hitting percentage.
Max McDermott directed the offense with 30 assists. McDermott, Sanchez and Coady Seidlereach recorded a service ace.
Nicholas Ockrim led the defense with 12 digs, while McDermott added six. Jahir Lopez tallied five digs. At the net, Overlin registered two solo blocks, while Janowiak and Mueller each had one solo block and two block assists.
On March 7, the Chaparrals faced Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. DuPage dropped its first set since Feb. 27 against Bryant & Stratton, but rebounded to secure a 3-1 victory (25-16, 26-24, 20-25, 25-19).
The Chaparrals followed their strong offensive performance with an even better one, hitting .305 as a team. Janowiak led the way with 17 kills. Tejeda added nine, while Overlin finished with eight. McDermott led the team with 21 assists and Amadeus Morales contributed 12.
Coady Seidler provided a spark from the service line with three aces. Ockrim again led the defense with 13 digs, while Morales recorded six. Janowiak and Tejeda each contributed two blocks.
After the win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, DuPage turned its attention to Brescia University for the final match of the weekend. The Chaparrals completed the trip with another sweep, defeating Brescia 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 28-26) to move to 17-2 on the season.
Janowiak paced the attack with 12 kills. Robert Witek impressed while appearing in all three sets, finishing with 10 kills. Morales (18 assists) and McDermott (16 assists) fueled the DuPage offense. Lopez and McDermott each recorded a service ace.
Defensively, Jahir Lopez registered 10 digs, Janowiak added 11 and Ockrim led the team with 17. Witek and Matthew Pemberton each tallied a block assist.
DuPage will travel to Whiting, Indiana, to take on Calumet College of St. Joseph on March 12.
