The Office of the General Counsel provides legal counsel and representation to the president, Board of Trustees and administration on matters affecting the institution. The Office supports the College’s mission by promoting legal compliance, ethical decision-making and risk management across all areas of the College.

Our work includes:

  • Advising leadership and departments on legal matters
  • Reviewing contracts, agreements and other legal documents
  • Supporting compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Assisting with risk management and institutional policy guidance
  • Coordinating responses to subpoenas, litigation and legal claims involving College of DuPage

The Office of the General Counsel does not provide personal legal advice or legal representation to faculty, staff or students.

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests

COD accepts FOIA requests during normal business hours. Requests submitted electronically after normal business hours are considered received by the College on the next business day.
