Apply to the Cosmetology Program
Please read and follow all steps to apply to the Cosmetology program for the 2026 fall term. Applications will close on Monday, June 1 and will be processed after that date, in the order received.
- Apply to College of DuPage by completing the online admissions application and paying the application fee.
- Once you submit your application, admissions will create your COD Username and send it to your personal email. An email titled “COD Student Portal Username” will contain your COD Username and information on setting up your password and accessing your student email account.
- Setup your student email account. Please note the authentication requirements.
- Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are using financial aid. This following list of fees can help you determine the cost of the Cosmetology program. (Note: This step may be completed after applying to the Cosmetology program)
- Program Prerequisites, Reading Category 1: Reading and writing placement requirements are used to measure your skills to determine your proper course placement.
- Complete the Cosmetology program application. To be considered for the program, all steps must be complete before submitting the application. Once started, a draft of your application can be saved. Seats are limited. If the program is full, you will be put on a wait list.
- What is needed before applying:
- Your COD Username
- Your COD Login
- You COD Email (@dupage.edu)
- A Letter of Recommendation (from anyone that is not related) This can ONLY be uploaded as a Word document or PDF. NO Document photographs or links are accepted.
- Phones are NOT recommended to use to apply.
- TCD Students will need to know their current hours.
- You will need to have your Multifactor Authentication Setup and access to approve it.
- After you are accepted into the Cosmetology program, you will be notified when a permit has been submitted and you may register for classes.
- You are required to attend an orientation before classes begin. Orientation dates will be sent to you through your COD email account. You will also receive notification of when and where to pick up your supply kit.
