The Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Act (PWR Act) is a law passed in Illinois in July 2016, whose overall goal is to help students complete their college degree and transition successfully into the workforce. As part of the law, the Transitional Math framework was established so high schools in collaboration with community colleges could offer a fourth-year math class that could allow students to enroll directly in credit-bearing courses in any community college in the state.

These specialized courses have common topics across Illinois and provide contextualized learning, where the material may already be familiar to the students, but presented in new ways with various applications and projects to enrich understanding.
