New Center for Civic Engagement and Public Humanities Unveiled
By Angela Mennecke

College of DuPage recently celebrated the launch of the Center for Civic Engagement and Public Humanities, a new initiative focused on building stronger, healthier and more connected communities.
At a ceremony in COD's Student Services Atrium, faculty, staff and students, community leaders and local government officials gathered to celebrate the launch and the Center’s vision for a more engaged community.
Through service, partnerships, volunteerism and hands-on experiences, the initiative brings together opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community partners to turn learning into action.
“A strong community depends on people who are willing to engage, listen and take action,” said COD President Dr. Muddassir Siddiqi. “This Center creates meaningful opportunities for our students to connect what they learn in the classroom with the needs of the communities around them, preparing them not only for successful careers, but for lives of purpose and service.”
While the Center is not a physical space on campus, it represents a commitment to public service and preparing people to make a difference in their communities. By bringing these efforts together under one vision, the initiative strengthens connections between COD and the communities it serve.
