New Advanced Imaging Systems Enhance Radiography Program
By Jesus Cortez

Keeping pace with the latest technology, College of DuPage has installed three new advanced radiographic systems to enhance its Radiography program.
The equipment is used to train students in performing diagnostic X-ray examinations, helping them learn proper patient positioning, technique selection, radiation safety protocols and image acquisition skills. It also features AI capabilities, including auto-tracking, as well as a camera to monitor patients via computer and modern safety features.
“The equipment prepares students for the technology they will encounter in healthcare facilities, ensuring they can competently perform chest X-rays, skeletal imaging and other routine radiographic procedures in real-world settings,” said Shelli Thacker, Ed.D., RT(R), radiography professor and program chair.
The X-ray equipment is used by students pursuing an Associate in Applied Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Imaging Radiography . Upon completion of the program, students are eligible for certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
“College of DuPage has a strong reputation for preparing exceptional radiographers,” said Thacker. “Providing students with hands-on experience using state-of-the-art imaging equipment in the lab ensures they are well prepared for the evolving demands of the profession and ready to enter the workforce as highly competent technologists.”
